In order to support the implementation of ESD in community empowerment, RCE Yogyakarta together with Directorate of Community Services UGM held a meeting or sarasehan with the theme: “Strengthening Commitments with the Community and Schools for a Sustainable Education” at the UGM Central Building on 18-19 September 2019. The meeting was attended by several parties who were agreed to be able to take an important role in the success of sustainable development such as lectures from several universities in Yogyakarta, deans of UGM, teachers from several schools in Yogyakarta, some principals in the Yogyakarta area, and some communities that are members of NGOs.
On the first day, the meeting presented six speakers who each delivered material about SDGs through the ESD implementation, including challenges and opportunities for universities in promoting SDGs. The meeting was opened by Prof.Ir. Irfan D. Prijambada., M.Eng., Ph.D. as Director of Community Services UGM, and then it was continued with presentation of RCE Yogyakarta’s programs by Nanung Agus Fitrianto., S.Pt., M.Sc., Ph.D. as Head of Sub Directorate of Community Empowerment in Directorate of Community Services UGM.
In the following day, the participants were invited to visit Code River Tourism Village and Pentingsari Tourism Village to see activities which support SDGs and share experiences among community and participants.
