Abstract. Leather supply in the Special Region of Yogyakarta has not been able to meet the demand of leather as raw material for leather craftsmen. The majority of leather craft centers are located in Bantul Regency, which is carried out by the Small Medium Enterprises (SME) tannery industry. The SME limitation to access some resources, especially the tannery industry, affects the quality and quantity of production, components in the tanning process, and the developed leather products. The design of appropriate technology for tannery SME has been carried out with the equivalent capacity to tan 3 pieces of goat leather and equipped with an automatic model. This design is in accordance with the capacity of leather production in the tannery SME. The implementation of appropriate technology is expected as standardization and quality improvement instrument on the production and process of tanning leather, and the leather products developed by SME.
