Abstract. Kobi Mukti Village in Seram Utara Timur Kobi Subdistrict, Central Maluku Regency has been blessed with abundant natural resources such as coconut, spices and a number of forest products. Due to lack of know how, the utilization of local resources has limited impact to improve the economy of the village. Community service program on the utilization and application of appropriate technology has been conducted in Kobi Mukti Village. The program aimed to increase welfare of the local community through production of briquette from coconut shell waste using appropriate technology. In addition, a number of innovations have also been proposed under the community service program that includes diversification of coconut-based products and introduction of fisheries processing technology which aims to enhance the basic knowledge of the community to utilize the natural resources in a sustainable way. The program of farm crops sector includes utilization of coconut shell into charcoal and briquettes. In addition, we have also initiated production of nata de coco, virgin coconut oil (VCO) and body butter. For the fishery sector, we have initiated introduction of fish processing technology to produce shredded fish, nuggets and meatballs. The community service program includes following steps: observation, materials preparation, counseling, implementation, and evaluation. The implementation of community service has been quite successful with positive acceptance by the local community followed by creation of small business enterprise in the village. Despite of the success, there is a challenge to market the products out of the village and hence needs support from the local government.
