Abstract. Bedono is a village located in Jambu sub-district, Semarang district, which is famous as a coffee-producing area. Bedono village has a coffee plantation with an area of 3,500 hectares and is able to produce of 6,000 tons of coffee cherries per year. At present, the community of Bedono village is familiar with the equipment to process these coffee products so that some of the coffee product which was originally still sold in the form of coffee fruit (coffee cherries) and green coffee bean, is now being sold as secondary coffee products like ground coffee. One of the main equipment that has been known by the community is a roaster, which is a coffee processing equipment for roasting green coffee beans before being further processed into coffee derivate products. The common roaster is designed from steel with LPG fuel. Roasting process at high temperatures (200 oC) causes most of roasted energy (heat) to be wasted into environment. It causes inefficient use of fuel energy. Therefore, this activity introduces the application of energy-saving roaster by adding insulating material to the roasting machine. The material is used to minimize the energy losses in the roasting process. This energy saving roaster model is expected to be adopted by the community to support cleaner production in developing the coffee processing industry of the community in Bedono village.
