The 2nd MSMEs National Business Workshop and Meeting

Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) are one of the pillars of national economic, especially in increasing employment and providing broad economic services to the community. The strategic role of MSMEs is to promote the process of equity and increase community income, economic growth, and realize national stability.

Although UMKM has shown its role in the national economy, it still faces various obstacles and constraints, both internal and external, in terms of production and processing, marketing, human resources, design and technology, capital, and business climate. read more

RCE Yogyakarta Participated in Cluster Meeting with the Indonesian Higher Education Institutions and Info-session on the international dimension of the Erasmus+ Programme Organized by EACEA

The Education, Audio-Visual, Culture Executive Agency (EACEA) in close cooperation with the Delegation of the European Union to Indonesia organized a two days event in Jakarta with Indonesian Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) and organizations involved in projects selected under 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019 for Capacity Building in Higher Education (CBHE) in the framework of the Erasmus+ Programme.

RCE Yogyakarta was invited to attend the two days workshop as it’s running on the Erasmus+ Project in 2019 entitled Information Communication Technology enabled-in Education for Sustainability (ICTeEfS). This event involved a cluster meeting with the Indonesian HEIs and organizations on the first day and  an Info-session on the international dimension of the Erasmus+ Programme on the second day. RCE Yogyakarta Participated in Workshop on Future Expectations for RCEs with ESD for 2030 held by RCE Okayama, Japan

The representatives of RCE Yogyakarta, Dr. Rachmawan Budiarto and Dr. Agus Maryono have attended The Workshop on Future Expectations for RCEs with ESD for 2030 held by RCE Okayama. The milestone both for Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development/ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) elected as the main theme of the workshop. The current phase of the Global Action Programme (GAP) on ESD, the follow‐up to the UN Decade on ESD, has been addressed as one of the purposes of the workshop. The new framework for ESD 2020‐2030 was discussed and endorsed at the United Nations General Assembly by the end of 2019. The basic document, entitled “Education for Sustainable Development: Towards achieving the SDGs (ESD for 2030)” was already discussed at the UNESCO Executive Committee in April and would be adopted at the UNESCO General Meeting. read more

RCE Yogyakarta Commits to Support SDGs in Global Sustainable Development Report (GSDR) – Implications for Accelerating Sustainable Development in Asia Pacific Meeting

RCE Yogyakarta was invited by Ministry of National Development Planning of Indonesia (BAPPENAS), Gesellschaft fur Interantionale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), and UN-DESA to attend  Global Sustainable Development Report (GSDR) – Implications for Accelerating Sustainable Development in Asia Pacific on 19 -21 November 2019 in Hotel Pullman, Jakarta.

The forum has evaluated the progress on the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and its 17 Sustainable Development Goals, which were adopted in 2015. Entitled “The Future is Now: Science for Achieving Sustainable Development”, it is found that the current development model is not sustainable, and the progress made in the last two decades is in danger of being reversed through worsening social inequalities and potentially irreversible declines in the natural environment that sustains the world. read more

RCE Yogyakarta Became Panelists at the International Association of Universities Conference on Higher Education in University of Malaya, Malaysia

Partnerships for Society Impact 2018 (University of Malaya 13-15 November 2018). Universitas Gadjah Mada represented by Prof. Ir. Irfan D. Prijambada., M.Eng., Ph.D. as Director of Community Service at the event role as a facilitator and speaker who delivered the theme: Partnership between campus and community. Universitas Gadjah Mada has been known as a campus or university that is very concerned with community services programs. That is why at the IAU 2018 program in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia, UGM was entrusted to deliver and present a community empowerment program to improve the welfare of the community with a multi-disciplinary approach. The meeting was attended by more than 150 universities around the world who are members of an international university network. read more

RCE Yogyakarta held an International ESD Forum 2019 in UGM

As an effort to improve international networking and promote sustainable development through Education for Sustainable Development (ESD), RCE Yogyakarta held an International ESD Forum with the theme “The Role of University and Community to Strengthen School Education in Promoting SDGs Implementation” in University Club Hotel UGM on 12-14 November 2019.  This conference is a part of university roles in addressing various problems within community, while reminiscing that it has become the center of information and education for students and community in general. In this occasion, Prof. Irfan Dwidya Prijambada. M.Eng., Ph.D. as the Director of Community Services UGM said that, “In implementing the Tri Dharma of Higher Education to carry out education, research, and community service, we are not simply become a passive recipient of technologies that exist in this world. We use this expertise to innovate and share it with our colleagues and the community, one of them is through Education for Sustainable Development.” read more

RCE Yogyakarta Conducted a Meeting or Sarasehan with Yogyakarta Communities

In order to support the implementation of ESD in community empowerment, RCE Yogyakarta together with Directorate of Community Services UGM held a meeting or sarasehan with the theme: “Strengthening Commitments with the Community and Schools for a Sustainable Education” at the UGM Central Building on 18-19 September 2019. The meeting was attended by several parties who were agreed to be able to take an important role in the success of sustainable development such as lectures from several universities in Yogyakarta, deans of UGM, teachers from several schools in Yogyakarta, some principals in the Yogyakarta area, and some communities that are members of NGOs. read more

To facilitate and synergize the sustainable community service activities, UGM is committed in establishing the SDGs Center which has also been recognized by the Ministry of National Development Planning / Head of the Development Planning Agency of the Republic of Indonesia as an institution that responsible for the SDGs achievement nationally. read more

RCE Yogyakarta Facilitated the Visit of University of Groningen to SEE KKN UGM Activities

As one form of collaboration between UGM and other universities in promoting SDGs, RCE Yogyakarta facilitated the visit of University of Groningen to discuss about how to connect the rubber seed research performed by the Groningen research team including Universitas Gadjah Mada, Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB), and Wageningen for Central Kalimantan. Besides that, the University of Groningen wanted to connect meaningfully to KKN or UGM Student Community Service using the topics identified for the research mentioned. read more

RCE Yogyakarta Attended Workshop about Sustainability University Barometer to Design Mutual and Joint Learning for Sustainable Development in IIUM.

RCE Yogyakarta was invited to discuss about the sustainability university barometer in International Islamic University Malaysia on 18-19 June 2019. The representative of RCE Yogyakarta was Nanung Agus Fitriyanto, M.Sc., Ph.D. The envisioned Sustainability University Barometer continuously maps the contribution of the higher education sector to sustainability and meeting the goals of the Agenda 2030 on a global, regional and national scale. Besides insights related to the Agenda 2030 as such it focuses on SDG 4 and is informing the follow up Post Global Action Program for ESD (4.7). read more
