Abstract. Batik is Indonesian cultural heritage and has been regarded as a Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity on October 2nd, 2009 by UNESCO. Since that, there has been increasing demand of batik products. However, one of the problems faced by batik industry is batik craftsmen are increasingly rare, and many young people are less interested in becoming batik craftsmen. Batik machine offers an alternative solution to overcome the problem. Using technology, some of batik processes are done by an automated machine. Batik motifs are redrawn using computer software and based on these drawings, a program is created and then run by a batik machine. The batik machine is still using wax (malam) on producing batik patterns. Comparing the results with the manual batik processes, it shows that for the primary batik processes (known as klowong), it may reduce the processing time by up to 60% for certain motifs. The results also prove that it can maintain wax penetration during the processes.
